Medical identification

A secure, reliable information network system among physicians, pharmacists and insurers does not yet exist. Physicians are often unable to access current, complete medical records because their patients commonly see several specialists, each maintaining separate medical files.

Upon each initial visit, patients are required to communicate their existing and historic medical conditions to the physician. In addition to the administrative burden, such a system can potentially have fatal consequences in emergency situations when patients are unable to convey critical information - such as current medications or allergic reactions.

An effective medical information network would enhance a patient's ability to receive a proper diagnosis and quality care. Thousands of patients die annually as a result of mistakes made by healthcare professionals, predominately due to incomplete or erroneous medical information.

Inefficiencies in the existing system often result in expensive duplication of tests, procedures, and exams. These costs are passed on to consumers via increased insurance premiums.

As international travel becomes more common in our expanding global economy, the need for a worldwide, interoperable medical information system becomes increasingly apparent.
